Off to Galena, Illinois this weekend for some antiquing and much needed rest and relaxation. As you can see, first post of June, so I do need it. Hoping to have some stuff up and back in action after I get back next week.
For now, enjoy two great articles by Chicago Tribune writer Blair Kamin. The first article is a great piece on how the former and torn down Randhurst Mall in Mount Prospect and its surrounding area as well as the demographic have gone through some "radical" (though I don't think of pseudo Main Street as that innovative or bold, hence radical being in quotations) changes over the years. While the second article focuses on rehabs and redesigns of malls in Park Forest and Schaumburg. Both links include photos of the awesome past and the so-so present.
And for fun, here's a blog on Awful Library Books if you are amused by this sort of thing that us wanna-be librarians are.
