A Taste of Garden Green Deco

I don't know much about this building except that it is located on Elston somewhere in a photo I snapped months ago. I am sure most everyone is recovering from the long holiday weekend as am I and I thought a simple little post would be appropriate. I love this cute little nondescript beauty in a tasteful garden green color that brings out the deco goodness of it.

I just wish it was in better shape.

This building could have been just about anything - obviously it must have been a store of some type.

Very nice terra cotta for a small storefront. It's funny how some terra cotta facades from those days have appear to be in near-perfect shape, while others like this are deteriorating. I wonder if there is a process for preserving it. I'd be surprised if there was.

To me it does look like a store of some type as well. Someone on my Facebook page just identified the address today so tomorrow when I am a little less tired, I will have to do some digging and see what comes up or if it is anything significant.

I always think of the facades of buildings in terms of possessions. If you throw around your cell phone or purse (which I often do, though not intentional! LOL!) and act as if you don't care, your possessions won't be preserved. Buildings are probably the same way. If it has been neglected for so long, it won't hold up as well as someone who cares about it. Alas, my poor garden green deco is in need of some love.
