Central Buy Low Liquors

Central Buy Low Liquors is a former Foremost Liquors located at 3360 W Montrose. I like the neon orange and pink scheme of the lettering and even though nowadays this is just your average liquor store sans the Foremost name, you admire the fact that the store owners are too cheap to change the sign.

It's New Year's Eve and I am forced to go out on a night I'd much rather stay home with people who like spending the evening out but who should really stay home on nights when the wind chilld is below zero. Booze is usually my friend on a night like tonight. I don't get drunk because I hate hangovers and after a drink or two I get past the fact that most likely the party I am at sucks but I am just too buzzed to notice. For those who feel this way as well have a safe and happy New Year and always attend a function with someone sober who can do the driving or even better take public transportation. The CTA usually does penny rides at midnight. If it wasn't so cold, I'd be out there waiting to see all the weirdos willing to show up.

Didi - I watched the Times Square coverage, where it was single digit weather, but didn't know how cold it got in Chicago. Anyway, I'm sure there were the usual guys in the crowd with their shirts off to impress the TV audience, one of the classier Loop traditions!

Anyway, I hope you have a great new year!

Luckily I was not home to see this. LOL! Actually, there was a Bears game a couple of weeks ago on a Monday night that was awfully cold. Wind chills were well below zero as was the temperature I believe. What does the camera pan in on? About three or four guys together with body paint and no shirts. Burrrrrr! I get cold just thinking about it.

It was cold here last night, probably somewhere around the ten degree mark. I did not understand all the folks who were stepping out to go smoke at the restaurant banquet place I went to which incidentally is in an old National grocery store. I guess they are used to it. LOL!

Happy New Year, Dave! Looking forward to more looks at discount stores of the past.

That sign is about the only good thing about that liquor store. It is your typical, run-of-the-mill, Bud-Miller-Corona-Malt40 factory.

LOL! I figured as much. I have never been inside but have passed by it numerous times. It looks like nothing special.
