The Eternal Hardware Store

Here in the photo is K Hardware located at 4605 S. Ashland. The building has never been anything else but a hardware/building supply store since at least the 1930s or 40s. To my knowledge, this building has never sold fancy summer dresses or paisley print skirts. It has never once housed affordable shoes or good looking suits for men. Not a single piece of furniture was ever sold here either. Just bolts and nails, hammers and veils and of course probably the occasional lumber.

In the early 80s K Hardware was once an Ace. I knew that font looked oddly familiar.
