Another Building Down North Avenue

A couple of months ago before I left I did a feature of buildings down North Avenue around Humboldt Park. Somehow I forgot to include this lovely building lost in the shuffle of my photos. The fine details show craftsmanship definitely not seen in the newer condo buildings that pop up all over the place.

One of my faves! The wreaths make it seem strangely Christmas-y year round.
I saw the earlier post on Humboldt Park, very nice, and you got very close to where I live!

LOL! That's so funny! Where exactly is your apartment? It's funny because I was just in the area today. My in-laws owned businesses in this area and I was with them as they went to check out the state of the old neighborhood and talk to relatives still there. I looked at this building again and it never even occured to me that they were wreaths. The architect had a soft spot for Christmas.

I am trying to recall what that was before, I took the North Ave bus hundreds of times as a kid from Pulaski east to the lake. Was it the old L. Fish furniture store? The sign lasted longer than the store, but it was literally shaped like an upright green fish.

I think you are most certainly correct, Brian. It probably was the old L Fish Furniture. I don't know the address of this building but newspaper ads show that there was one located at 2656 W North Avenue which sounds about right for the building since these photos are at about 2600, 2500 west. Thanks so much for spotting that!
